Summary
The aim of this project is to develop special sensor equipment on a vehicle to measure various parameters of pavements and other footways in an urban environment with respect to requirements of disabled people. The remote-controlled vehicle will be able to drive on footways, measure a set of parameters and store them. The related information system will perform an interpretation of the measurements, interpret significant characteristics for disabled people and evaluate/classify the path accordingly. Observed parameters incorporate essential technical requirements to enable barrier-free movement of end users, including information about walkway surfaces, slope and width parameters, tactile characteristics and existence of obstacles.
