VSB-TUO is public institution of higher education which provides tertiary education in technical and economic sciences.

We prepare graduates for the future in a rapidly changing world. Our commitment is to implement education programmes across different fields, using the research and development potential of the University.

The highest regulation for the institutions of higher learning is the Higher Education Act with marked amendments Act No. 111/1998.
Based on these instructions and rulings the University publishes its own internal regulations, such as statutes, rules and directives.

The credit system is compatible with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) enabling the mobility of students within the terms of European educational programmes.
Most of the programmes are taught in the Czech language, however an increasing number of programmes is offered in English.

Tuition fee for foreign students per semester will be the same for all faculties and will vary according to the type of study. The fee for the Bachelor study will be 50 000 CZK, the fee for the Master’s degree will be 50 000 CZK and the fee for doctoral studies will be 500 CZK.

Foreign students can take intensive courses of Czech language for foreigners. More information at Department of Foreign Languages

Education is organized in accordance with European standards.

Credit and Diploma system as defined by the Bologna Process:

Bachelor‘s Studies

  • Bachelor's degree programmes enable students to acquire knowledge and skills in environmental engineering, water technology and management, and waste treatment and disposal.
  • The standard period of study in bachelor degree programmes is 3 years.
  • The bachelor's degree is completed by a state bachelor's examination and a defence of the bachelor's thesis.
  • Successful graduates are awarded the title "Bachelor", abbreviated as "Bc."

Master‘s Studies

  • Continuing Master's degree programmes allow students to expand their knowledge and skills from their Bachelor's degree.
  • The standard period of study in the follow-up Master's degree programmes is 2 years.
  • Graduates of bachelor's degree programmes may apply for admission to study in the follow-up master's degree programmes through the admission procedure.
  • Studies in master's degree programmes are completed by a state final examination and a thesis defence.
  • Graduates are awarded the title "Engineer", abbreviated as "Ing.".

Doctoral Studies

  • The doctoral program expands the student's knowledge of the basic theoretical disciplines used in the various application areas of finishing and industrial influences.
  • Graduates of continuing master's degree programmes may apply for admission to doctoral programmes through the admissions process.
  • The study part of the doctoral study programmes is completed by the State Doctoral Examination. This is followed by the elaboration and defence of the doctoral dissertation.
  • Graduates are awarded the title "Doctor", abbreviated as "Ph.D."
