Seed money facility are designed to provide support for the development of complex strategic transnational projects in a priority area of the EUSDR. The aim of the project is to prepare a future project on biotechnological Innovations for Sustainable Flat Panel Displays Recycling (Bioprep). The Bioprep proposal focusses on waste FPD displays as one of the fastest growing groups of e-waste to show how biotechnological processes can be applied to recover metals from various metal-bearing wastes. In CE countries, waste FPD displays are mostly landfilled leading to the environmental pollution and loss of valuable metals. The Bioprep will introduce new concept based on green, environmentally friendly microbial processes.
